Tips from RockIt Mom:

1. GREEN – Vacation Energy Saver: Before you leave on vacation – even a weekend getaway – consider turning off your water heater until you return to save energy.  Newer models will heat the water to the set temperature in about an hour upon return.  Or check to see if your heater has a vacation setting.

2. HEALTH – A “marriage” or pairing of foods and moves are supported by medical testing to help your body reach it’s healing potentials.  Try some of these unions.

Sidestep Skin Cancer: Caffeine + Cardio.  The tests show the caffeine inhibits ATR-1, which prevents the damaged cells from becoming cancer cells. Try a cup of coffee an hour before exercise, as long was you don’t have elevated blood pressure.  The caffeine should increase your endurance and delay fatigue.  Try to get at least 30 min. of some type of cardio per day.

Flush Fat: Burger + Frozen Yogurt.  After eating a high saturated fat meal, follow it with a low fat calcium rich dessert.  The calcium binds to the fatty acids blocking their absorption. Test show a minimum of  1735 mg or 8 oz. of calcium can be a good blocker.

Protect your Heart: Green Tea + Lemon. The Vit. C helps your body absorb up to 13 times more catechins, which is in green tea to help lower your risk of heart disease.

Fight Fatigue: Eggs + Orange Juice. If you don’t eat  a lot  of meat, you may be low on iron.  The Vit. C is the most potent promoter of iron absorption. Try a glass of oj with your scrambled eggs or iron-rich tofu with broccoli.

Build Muscle: Strength Train + Stretch. After a set of lifting weights, take a 30-60 second rests.  During this rest, hold a static stretch up to 30 seconds.  Be sure to stretch the muscles just used to continue the strength training.

3. RECIPE- Spring Time Salad: Corn, Mango & Edamame Salad.  Jump over to FOOD  tab for this recipe.

I hope you all have a fabulous week.  Make sure you have a positive and motivational phrase on your bathroom mirror, the computer, your dash in the car, or as your screen saver.  Take a minute each day, read your phrase and try to implement it at least once.  Don’t forget to give us your feedback on all of these tips, or anything else.
