3 Easy Ways to Go Green All Year Round

Earth Day is celebrated in the spring, but we all know it’s good practice to be eco-friendly 365 days a year. It doesn’t have to be difficult, in fact, being more green conscious is just the opposite. Check out these ways you can make a slight switch in your life to become a go green getter.

Increase Your Carbon Footprint, Decrease Your Weight

It’s no secret that when you get out of the car and on your feet your waistline will shrink, but sometimes it’s just not feasible to hit the gym everyday after work when you have hungry mouths to feed. If you live within biking distance to work, try riding to decrease air pollution and burn calories at the same time. At our school, I have seen a mom bike to school to drop off /pick up her 1st grader, while towing the two younger ones in a trailer.  This school is on top of hill, tell me she isn’t burn some calories and going to have amazing legs by the end of the school year.  If the average woman (approximately 160 pounds) biked 20 minutes to and from work/school, she would burn 292 calories on top of getting killer legs! Just remember, always wear a helmet!

Groom Yourself GreenMore and more beauty companies are hopping on the eco-green wagon, removing harsh chemicals that are bad for the planet and your skin from their products. From shampoos to bronzers, you can green your beauty routine from head to toe. Some of our favorite green products include L’Oreal Bare Naturale Soft-Focus Mineral Finish, Smashbox Green Room Bronzer, and the Paul Mitchell Tea Tree Collection.

Eat the Right Organic StuffIt seems like the word “organic” is slapped on almost anything these days. While it’s true that organic foods like local produce, fruits, and whole grains are better for you not to mention contain less sprayed chemicals due to less transit time, faux organic foods like chips, soda, and cookies won’t help much. They are still full of sugar not to mention fried, so don’t be surprised if your diet of fried organic chips doesn’t make you lose any weight!
