Weekly Tips for Dec. 19, 2011

Not only are the holidays here, but in full swing.  Parties, cookies, sweets, fudge, cocktails, appetizers, caroling, sleigh rides, Christmas lights and shopping! How do you keep your sanity and stress under control? As the Mom in your household, it is your responsibility to keep everyone happy, the house clean, the gifts bought and wrapped, baking and decorating cookies, and keeping the whole family happy and in the spirit! That is more than enough to send anyone over the edge and into a vat of Christmas martinis and decorated cookies! This week’s tips are to be there for you!


Remember those not as fortunate at you. Find your favorite charity or a new one and instead of giving green money, give your time or donate your services to help them out. A number of charities will gladly accept your help, time and service.


We inquired of our RockIt Mammas “What are some of your best fitness/health habits?” Here are some of their responses. The can help you get motivated or challenge yourself currently.  Feel free to add your own:

When everyone around you wants you to go against your regime, stay strong. You know what is best!

Run 3.2 miles daily.

Cardio at least 4 times per week for 30 minutes or more.

Organic Greek Yogurt, with berries and raw aguave nectar.

A green smoothie a day keeps impending holiday gluttony away!

Grapefruit & oatmeal for breakfast & some form of cardio each day! Getting in running shape!

Cooking ALL my own food, from scratch.

Eat real food. Seeing a fastfood place & thinking yuck I’d rather not and seeing my kids agree.

Barley grass daily and eating more beans and pulses than the average person (cause who wants to be average right).

Journaling my food.

Eating organic.

Going from eating a WHOLE LARGE pepperoni pizza a year ago, to now making my own healthy SMALL pizza….. measuring everything, and hiring my own personal trainer.

Unintentional exercise like taking the stairs instead of the elevator, walking to the train station instead of taking the bus, walking instead of taking the subway, it all adds up!

On the sixth day of Fitness, my trainer gave to me…

6 sets of 10 crunches…

5 wide grip pull ups,

4 sets push ups,

3 flights of stairs,

2 minute plank, and a

1 mile run.
