Fun Family Events for Father’s Day weekend!

Here is one for fairies and Dads’ of lil fairies: 

Fairy Festival at Quail Botanical Gardens in Encinitas, Ca on Saturday, June 19 from 10:00 am – 2:00 pm.  Fairies! Come celebrate summer and wear your fairy costume if you have one, or come just as you are. Create a fairy house, make fairy treasures, leave messages on the wishing bush, or shop in the Fairyland market. Don’t forget to bring your camera for a picture with the Fairy Queen. Free with admission or membership. Many free activities, small fee for some crafts.

Dinosaur Train! Saturdays & Sundays in June 10:30am at UltraStar locations. G-rated family entertainment, admission only $2.50!

Kids@Lux, Saturday June 19th 10:00am- 12:00pm at Lux Art Institute. Drop off your kids at Lux for a guided tour through the studio, a Q&A session with the Resident Artist, and a hands-on art project in the Lux Classroom. For kids ages 6-12. Toy Story 3 Scavenger Hunt on Saturday June 19th 11:00am- 2:00pm at local Disney stores.  Fun, excitement and a special surprise! Minimum age for participation is 3 years. Call your local store for participation.

Movies in the Park on Saturday June 19th 7:00pm activities, movie airs at dusk, at Grape Day Park in Escondido, CA.  Movies in the Park is back for the third year and has expanded! FREE movies under the stars on the 3rd Saturday in June, July, August and September. Free activities and movie, low cost snacks available. First up: Cloudy With a Chance of Meatballs. Bring low backed chairs or blankets and don’t forget your sweater.

Father’s Day (Weekend) at the Fleet on June 19th & 20th at Reuben H. Fleet Science Center.  Dads receive Free Gallery Admission on June 19 or 20with the purchase of one full-price gallery admission ticket, on the same day.

NorCal Pirate Festival on June 19th & 20th 10:00am-6:00pm at Vallejo Waterfront (in Bay area).  Pirate Entertainers, Musicians, Singers, wordfighters, Craftspeople, and more turn Vallejo’s waterfront into a Pirate Town the likes of which hasn’t been seen since Tortuga! Help break the world record for largest pirate gathering! Admission is FREE.

Father’s Day Brunch on Sunday June 20th 11:00am- 3:00pm at San Diego Zoo.  To pamper Dad on his special day, bring him to Father’s Day Brunch at the Zoo’s Treetops Banquet Room. Treat him to selections at the California cheese board and the fiery salsa and dip bar; New York strip at our carving station; pork shoulder, pumpkin risotto, and shrimp and penne entrées; and much more. Professional photographers will be there to take photos of your family; photographs will be available for purchase the same day. Cost is $34.95 for adults and $17.95 for children 3–11, plus tax and gratuity (Zoo admission for nonmembers must be purchased separately). Father’s Day Fondue on Sunday, June 20th at Melting Pot in Gaslamp, Downtown San Diego. Spoil Dad this year. Get him out of his La-Z-Boy and take him for a Big Night Out on the town. Reservations required.

2010 San Diego County Fair at Del Mar Fairgrounds from Friday June 11th- Monday July 5th (Closed Mondays).  There is something for everyone.  Cooking contests & demonstrations, concerts & entertainment, monster trucks & demolition derby, Enviro Fair, GREASE Sing-a-long movie event, rides & games, fair food, Kids’ Days are every Tuesday (June 15, 22 and 29)- featuring special activities for the younger set, and all kids 12 and younger get free admission!

Date night for you and Dad (not your dad – your hubby/significant other “Dad”), the amazing FLOGGIN MOLLY band will be at aVox Hall on Friday, June 18, 2010. This is a must see event!  And a great venue to catch it.

2nd Annual Juneteenth Celebration at QUALCOMM Stadium Park Information & Educational Family Fair on June 19th from 10 am to 5 pm. FREE ADMISSION – PARKING – KIDS FUN ZONE – FOOD VENDORS – LIVE ENTERTAINMENT – CONTESTS: Food eating, Best Sweet Potato Pie, Peach Cobbler, Diaper Derby and more! Did you see it is all FREE??

    One more FREEBIE for the weekend.
    Head on down to Balboa Park Monday for a free organ concert. The event starts at 7:30 p.m. at the Spreckels Organ Pavilion and features former civic organist Robert Plimpton. Make sure to pack a picnic basket, too.
