I have spent a month so far on my weight loss journey or rather my back to health journey.  Really I think that for me, I have to look at it as a health journey.  There remains that residual frustration when I view it as weight loss only.  I feel like I am trying to comport with the societal baloney about women needing to be a certain size and shape.  I then feel compelled to rebel which is odd b/c I am not a rebel. Cucumber Spajito

A delicate spa-like twist on a classic mojito.

2 oz. Square One Cucumber

1 oz. fresh squeezed lime juice

1/2 oz. organic agave nectar

6 sprigs of fresh mint

Club Soda or Sparkling water

Ice with 2-3 long, thin strips of cucumber slices

Layer cucumber slices and a couple of mint leaves with ice in a Collins glass. Muddle remaining mint lightly in a mixing glass or cocktail tin. Do not over bruise. Pour other ingredients in and shake briefly with a little ice just to blend. Strain into Collins glass and fill to desired level with soda water and stir briefly. Garnish with the remaining sprig of mint.

This is a great one for preparing for the summer cocktail season!  Kick back with your girls and enjoy.  Let us know what you think.

Exercise for Week of March 29, 2010

Posted on 29. Mar, 2010 in Exercises

Amazing Abs, just in time for summer and the beach! Or if you are really determined, SPRING BREAK?

Bicycle Abs

Forward & Backward

Sit feet on floor and lean back to approximately 45 degree angle. Hands next to you on the floor.  Begin by cycling your legs in a forward motion for a count of 25.  At the completion of 25 reps, don’t let your legs rest, and pedal in a backward motion for a count of 25.

CUES: Be sure to hold your abs tight and remain in a tight 45 degree angle.  Once you start to slouch, readjust and continue pedaling.  Make sure your feet are pushing on the out/down pedal and pulling in on the up pedal.  Do not rest your weight into your hands or wrists.  The hands are merely for balance.  The advanced move here it to lift your hands/arms straight above your head.  This may sound like a “easy” ab exercise, but this is also a grueling quad exercise.

Do this exercise 2 times per day at least 4 times per week.  You will see amazing stamina, quad strenght and beautiful abs.
