Where does the time go? It seems like last week we were just talking about our New Year’s Resolutions, candy or not for Valentine’s Day! Now it is time to get ready for SUMMER! The most (2nd) wonderful time of the year! Working on the annual SUMMERTIME FUN FOR FAMILIES. It should be ready first of June, check back. February is a short month with lots going on; Groundhog Day (more winter), Super Bowl Sunday (Monday recovery is painful), Valentine’s Day (no pressure there), President’s Weekend (have to plan something fun and exciting for the kids) and Mardi Gras (another temptation).

Soup and Salad are your friend, right? Wrong!

Soup and salad are everyone’s “go to” healthy food, not necessarily. Just because you are ordering or eating a soup or salad, you are not being “healthy”. Some salads are over 800 calories when you add dressing, bacon, avocado, cheese, croutons and fried chicken. Soup is a great warming healthy food, only if you read the package or know what is in it. Look at these soups next time you are out or shopping. Remember cream, butter, half and half and anything rich are going to kill your “healthy” choice.

Not only are the holidays here, but in full swing.  Parties, cookies, sweets, fudge, cocktails, appetizers, caroling, sleigh rides, Christmas lights and shopping! How do you keep your sanity and stress under control? As the Mom in your household, it is your responsibility to keep everyone happy, the house clean, the gifts bought and wrapped, baking and decorating cookies, and keeping the whole family happy and in the spirit! Well, glad E. Bunny has come and gone.  He left those crazy Cadbury crunch eggs.  OD’d on them in less than 3 hours.  What candy did you enjoy this past weekend?

Looks like from the national weather reports that Spring has finally sprung! High heat in the south, warmer temps and less storms in the north and east and sunny skies in the west. Weekly Tips for February 21, 2011

Have you heard what is going on in our world? The riots, the death, destruction and terrible illnesses.  It really requires us to take a long look at what we have going on in our own personal lives and evaluate it as “really that bad?”  We have heard some terrible news about family friends sufferring from life ending diseases and financial ruin.  So, is it “really that bad” that you ate some cake over the weekend? Or you didn’t make it to the gym every day last week. The kids progress reports came out and they need to focus more in school?  Heading into March, it is time to re-evaluate our ideas, goals and resolutions for 2011.  We can acheive anything we put our energies to, but are those acheivements “attainable”?
