How many of the 100+ snacks have you tried during our Month of Lifestyle Changes (of Snacks)? A new favorite is the cucumber slices with Laughing Cow spreadable cheese. Yum, Yum.

Now with Valentine’s over, the flowers have wilted and the chocolate is either all gone (guilt, guilt, guilt) or thrown out and time to focus or re-focus on our goals to Get In Gear for 2012. (more…)

We have been talking all year – okay January 2012 – about small lifestyle changes because 2012 is our year to get in gear! Little changes make a big difference in the long run. As opposed to strict denial of everything which is ultimately going to lead to going back to your old ways.

This month is lifestyle changes to your snacks. Here is a list to get you started for some healthy snacking options. Remember you should have snacks 2-3 times per day; a morning snack, afternoon snack and optional evening snack.

This list is filled with sizeable options enjoyable enough to devour guilt-free. And while most of these snacks pack a nutritious punch, a few are clearly set out to satisfy that sweet tooth (see #23!). But hey, at 100 calories or less, it’s worth the splurge. (more…)

Soup and Salad are your friend, right? Wrong!

Soup and salad are everyone’s “go to” healthy food, not necessarily. Just because you are ordering or eating a soup or salad, you are not being “healthy”. Some salads are over 800 calories when you add dressing, bacon, avocado, cheese, croutons and fried chicken. Soup is a great warming healthy food, only if you read the package or know what is in it. Look at these soups next time you are out or shopping. Remember cream, butter, half and half and anything rich are going to kill your “healthy” choice.

Well, almost three weeks into 2012, how are you doing on your “lifestyle changes”? 2012 is the Year to Get in Gear!

We started 2012 with making breakfast healthy and a couple snacks. Are you still on this road with us or do you need to step back reset and begin again.  Based on an incredible insight during a beach run, I was able to develop the new RockIt Mom motivation: There are no failures, only attempts that were not the correct way, so let’s try it again a different way.  Albert Einstein said, “Insanity: doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results.” As women, we know — Failure is Not an Option! Let’s try lifestyle changes another way.  Hopefully, these tips will get you started.

Has the sugar coma taken over your day? Or were you good and ignored all those Snickers, Reese’s, KitKats calling you? Well, Halloween is the kickoff to our 2010 holiday season.  You need to stay focused and keep on pushing to maintain healthy habits and lifestyle through the holidays are as known around here, The Gift of 10 Pounds that Keeps On Giving!  Don’t throw in the towel and think you are going to “get back into it” in January.
