Worst Food for that Beach Body

Posted on 13. Jun, 2011 in Uncategorized

Isn’t it ironic that people who are healthy most of the time, exercise and are super conscious of food throw all of that out the window when they are at the beach.  Last time at the beach we saw a very fit man, reading Men’s Health, drinking regular Coke and a eating a Costco size bag of Doritos. What happened here? Is there a special “zone” that you can eat whatever you want at the beach and nothing happens? I completely understand indulging when the cravings are there.  Wait….oh, I thought I heard Baskin Robbins calling.  (more…)

Summer is a-l-m-o-s-t here! What are your plans? Staycations, visiting family, beach, lakes, camping? Working on the Annual Fun for Kids report, however RockIt Muffin and RockIt Bubba have decided to not to do camps this summer, so research is limited. Hopefully, it will spur ideas in your local community.

Hope all enjoyed their holiday weekend and took a moment to THANK and REMEMBER those in the our armed forces. (more…)

Well, glad E. Bunny has come and gone.  He left those crazy Cadbury crunch eggs.  OD’d on them in less than 3 hours.  What candy did you enjoy this past weekend?

Looks like from the national weather reports that Spring has finally sprung! High heat in the south, warmer temps and less storms in the north and east and sunny skies in the west. Time to start focusing on summer, summer, summer!  What are your plans? Camps, vacations, pool parties or beach days? (more…)

No matter where you live, a weekend of no plans and hanging with the family (at the park, beach, river or hiking) is so rejuvenating not only for Mamma, but the whole family, too.  No rushing, no divide and conquer, just “go with the flow”.  While you are perusing your multi-colored and post it note covered calendar to find that open weekend, here are the tips. Abs, Core, Abs, Core — How many crunches do I HAVE to do?

Posted on 27. Mar, 2011 in Exercises

As women, we hear “work your abs”, “hold that core”, “if you work your core/abs, you will reduce your back pain”. We do the crunches, sit ups, planks, mountain climbers and timed “V” sits.  Are there any other  ab and core exercises?  Well, indeed there are. The (in)famous Jackie Warner has some new core exercises that are compound to work your lower back, abs, obliques, biceps and shoulders.  Click here for the video of  Jackie’s Side Bend Shoulder Press.

Weekly Tips for March 7, 2011

Posted on 06. Mar, 2011 in Uncategorized

How is March treating you? Like a lion or a lamb? March can be a very stressful, mundane and trying month, so take some time break out of your routine and mix things up a bit.  Instead of drinking coffee, try herbal tea or a tea latte.  Tired of the same cardio routine, mix it up with a jump rope, hula-hoop and some head banging rock music.  Work those legs, while doing dishes or checking out at the store, do calf raises.  Instead of plopping down at the computer, stand and Facebook, instead.  This week’s tips are Nice, Green, (more…)

Weekly Tips for January 24, 2011

I apologize for the tardiness of the tips this week, however there is a valid excuse. Four fabulous days on the Central California Coast with just my husband, exploring places we have never seen before.  If you get the opportunity to travel to the Central Coast (Santa Barbara, Avila Beach, San Luis Obispo, Seashell Scape, Chumash Lake, etc.), just start packing and go-go-go. There is so much information to share when jumping into the New Year.  What do you want to achieve? Did you make a resolution?  Do you want to tackle that closet that you can’t even open the door because it won’t close again? (In our space station, we have a closet we are “afraid” of, so like all pink elephants, we ignore it!) Is there a “bucket list” item you must accomplish? How about your health, nutrition and  fitness?

Weekly Tips for Nov. 8, 2010

Posted on 07. Nov, 2010 in Uncategorized

Remember to stay focused and keep on pushing to maintain healthy habits and lifestyle through the holidays. Since the retailers like to start pushing Christmas in October, keep your wits about you. You are more than 7 weeks from the December holidays. Don’t eat that extra cookie, dessert, cake, cupcake, candy bar and think in 2011 I will be better. That is not what YOU are about. YOU are about being healthy, now TODAY! Stay in the zone. Get at least 30 min. a day of some type of movement (walk, dance, skip, shuffle around your parking lot, hula-hoop) and you will be ecstatic with yourself come 2011. You don’t want to be one of “those people” at the gym in January. You want to be a happy, confident woman keeping your routine in check. (more…)
