It is only the second week of school and I have been super edgy, impatient, cranky and not being the “Mommy” I want to be! I love summertime. It is my favorite season of the year. Who doesn’t love sun, fun, beach, pools, warm weather, cute sandals, sundresses, amusement parks, amazing fresh fruit, movies at 10am and the best part — sleeping in!! Here it is September ALREADY! Ready for fall, cool weather, sweaters, pumpkin lattes and football! On the West Coast it is still hot, hot, hot. It finally broke 91 degrees at our house for the first time in over three weeks. How are you getting ready for Fall? (more…)

February is a short month with lots going on; Groundhog Day (more winter), Super Bowl Sunday (Monday recovery is painful), Valentine’s Day (no pressure there), President’s Weekend (have to plan something fun and exciting for the kids) and Mardi Gras (another temptation).

I think I misunderstood Douvette’s “Last Chance Workout” from last night’s episode of Biggest Loser! He had them running for 30 seconds at speeds of 6, 7, 8, 9 and 10 (or so I thought). I tried running these today (after running a 5K) and made all the way to 10. But speed 10 was only for 22 seconds. I think maybe he meant incline? This afternoon walking has not been my friend! I am going to have to go back and watch the DVR.

We started 2012 with making breakfast healthy and a couple snacks. Are you still on this road with us or do you need to step back reset and begin again. Based on an incredible insight during a beach run, I was able to develop the new RockIt Mom motivation: There are no failures, only attempts that were not the correct way, so let’s try it again a different way. Albert Einstein said, “Insanity: doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results.” As women, we know — Failure is Not an Option! Let’s try lifestyle changes another way.
