Summer may have been over for you when the kids went back to school, but there are still some activities and family fun you can squeeze in. Our family has been very fortunate to be invited to go waterskiing and tubing at two different lakes and 4×4 in the Mojave Desert. It is truly a A-Ha parent moment to watch your babies get behind a ski boat and be taken away. Or jump into a Jeep and take off over the mountains and climb rocks. You want these moments so you can watch them grow and at the same time, grab them – wrap them in their favorite blankie and cuddle them tight! Has your child(ren) done a big kid activity that you just weren’t ready for them to do, yet? (more…)

If your babes are not already out of school, I am sure they are counting down the days.  RockIt Mom has finished and posted the “suggested” Summer Camps 2011.  Look for the Summer Fun Ideas coming soon. This list will include fun suggestions to do with the kiddos that are inexpensive and fun for all ages.  The ideas will be “Southern California” influenced but hopefully will inspire ideas for your area.    Remember Father’s Day is fast approaching.  Start working on those crafts for Dad.  One favorite it to take a picture of the kids, buy a wooden frame from craft store and cover it in buttons.  Then put “Cute as a Button” on the frame or picture.  (more…)

How are those stress levels going so far?  Handling it well. I will be honest, the stress has really gotten to me not once but twice to the point my body is reacting.  Remember, it is the “most wonderful time of the year”, not the most miserable.  Try to keep it all in perspective. And it is OK to say “No” to some invitations or requests or donation pleas.  It is hard, but work on it.  It is definitely a work in progress.

So this week, some quick tips for that crazy shopping and keeping the stress low.  My personal favorite:  amazon.com.  They have everything, free shipping, percentage back to your elementary school and excellent customer service.  I tried going out to the stores and after an hour, I ran ran ran home and got online!

The tips this week are combos, we have put together great shopping, green, healthy and economical tips to get you through the season. ENJOY! Also, if you are looking for holiday cheer, check out here on our site with all the event in San Diego County. There is something just about every day. (more…)

In San Marcos, there are some great “old school” family movies played at San Marcos Civic Center Mall on Twin Oaks Valley Road and Mission Road. The fun part is they play the movies on the big screen by the fountain/fire pit.  You can eat at Pizza Nova outside and watch the movie or grab dinner from one of the other restaurants (sushi, burgers, Subway, coffee, frozen yogurt, etc) bring it over and watch the movie.  What a great family night or date night while enjoying a movie and cocktails.  All movies start at 8:30 pm.

Here is a list of the movies for this summer:
