10 Things to do before SUMMER is over!

Posted on 16. Jul, 2010 in Fun

By Meg Grant, Associated Content from Yahoo!

It may seem that summer just arrived, but it will be gone as quickly as it came. Before the end of summer there are some things you should savor and do. After all, before you know it you will be looking at gray skies, dreaming of sunshine and all the things you wished you had done while summer was here.

Visit a Beach

A beach doesn’t have to be at the ocean. You can visit a lake, river, pond — anywhere there’s a body of water. Make sure there’s plenty of sand there so you can take off your shoes or sandals and let the sand seep between your toes. Build a sandcastle. Swim in the water.

Eat a Popsicle

Channel your inner child and eat a Popsicle. While you’re at it, eat three or four — or the whole box. Popsicles are usually pretty low in calories and aren’t much more than frozen fruit juice. Sit outside in the sun, savor your icy treat and don’t worry if sticky juice runs down your arm.

Get a (Natural) Tan

Why spend all that money on fake tans and tanning memberships. It costs too much and you will get a much better looking glow from the real sun. Although you can get too much of a good thing, don’t worry about the sun’s damaging effects — wear sunscreen and just go for that sun-kissed glow.

Catch Fireflies

Fireflies come out in the summer, and they provided you with plenty of great memories as a child. Grab yourself an old mason jar, punch some holes in the lid and catch some fireflies; only set them free after you’ve watched them dance around in your jar.

Have a Water Balloon Fight

Remember those water balloon fights you had as a kid? Life as an adult can be too serious. Loosen up and get your friends (or your kids) together and have a water balloon fight. It will get your heart pumping and give you lots of laughs.

Ride a Tandem Bike

Some of my best memories from my younger years was riding a tandem bike around Mackinaw Island in Northern Michigan. Rent a tandem bike with your best friend, older child, or significant other and ride around. You’ll have plenty of laughs and get great exercise.

Go to Camp

Summer camp isn’t just for kids! Head for the mountains or hills. Rent a cabin and be one with nature for a little while. Don’t forget to wear plenty of bug spray and enjoy all nature has to offer.

Host a Bonfire

Bonfires bring lots of great memories. Tell your best ghost stories. Roast hot dogs for dinner and make sure that everyone has a S’More or two (or five.) This can be at the campground or you can have your very own bonfire in your back yard — but be sure to check with your local ordinances and get the proper permits so you don’t end up having to pay a fine!

Make Arts and Crafts

Whether you have children or you just want to unleash your own inner creativity, take a note from your summer camp days and make some arts and crafts. Keep your masterpieces and give them as Christmas gifts or just out-of-the-blue gifts — or use them to decorate your home.

And last, but certainly not least…

Fall in Love

Summer love was always something to remember. Whether you rekindle the spark with your significant other, vow to have a summer fling, or just fall in love with yourself, summer is the perfect time to fall in love. If you can’t figure out how to make this resolve, read a good classic love story or watch a sappy old movie such as “Splendor in the Grass” or “Love Story.”

Don’t let summer pass you by without doing these ten things. Life’s too short and as adults sometimes we forget about the simple things that made life so magical as a child. Don’t let that happen to you.

As one of the exercises that tackles all muscle groups and improves the condition of our bones and joints, swimming is highly recommended both for those who are eager to adopt a healthy lifestyle as well as lose weight.

•Without doubt regular swimming for at least 30 minutes t0 1 hour per day will help you burn 500-600 calories per session. Make sure you proceed from the simple to complex swimming patterns in order to get your body into the groove and also spare yourself from injuries and joint pain.

Tai Chi and Yoga

•Both of these relaxing and stress-relieving exercises are popular and practiced individually or in large groups on the beach. Enjoying the warm sunlight as well as the fresh air are some of the main benefits of doing Yoga or other breathing and stretching exercises on the sand.

•Choose the best time of the day as well as apparel in order to prevent your skin from burning and deterioration.

•Work on your abs, legs and shoulder to have a well-defined and flawless beach body. Keep in mind the importance of breathing and make sure you release the tension from your muscles with a daily 30 minutes Yoga or Tai Chi session.

Surfing (RockIt Mom’s favorite beach time activity)

•Surfer guys and girls have the most polished beach bodies due to the fabulous effect of this sport and exercise plan on their body. As a workout that would require balance, flexibility and above all muscles it is advisable for those who are keen to experiment with new things. Start with the easy and smaller waves then proceed to the next level when ready for some challenge. Surfing will target the upper body as well as buttocks and legs. Therefore engage into a similar whole-body workout plan and learn from professionals to have the desired effect.

Turn your summer holiday on the beach into a cool and soothing silhouette makeover. Work on your critical sections to have the most stunning beach body and make an impression with your toned muscles. Take special care also of your skin in order to prevent it from the damaging effect of the sun.

Tips from RockIt Mom:

1. GREEN-This is from RockIt Mom’s own personal observations!  We hosted parties over the weekend and of course in preparation for these parties, we hit the large club warehouse store.  In a hurry, purchases were made for pure convenience (fruit platters, vegetable trays and other snacks).  On the day of the first party, while putting out all the food, it was ridiculous how most of the food in the “party trays” were rotten, overly ripe or just plain bad.
