My purpose in chatting, blogging, and posting on this site is NOT to convince you to go vegetarian, to tell you that you need to lose weight, or to say that you need to live like me.

My biggest wish IS that you will take some of the things that I share and use them to educate yourself and make the choices that work for YOU. I HOPE everyone becomes their own health advocates and become the healthiest version of themselves possible. You CAN do it and I am always here for comments, questions, venting and new ideas!  Now, onto this week’s tips….

As women, we hear “work your abs”, “hold that core”, “if you work your core/abs, you will reduce your back pain”. We do the crunches, sit ups, planks, mountain climbers and timed “V” sits.  Are there any other  ab and core exercises?  Well, indeed there are. Did you make any New Year’s resolutions, other than health, fitness or nutrition? How about trying to be a gentler and kinder person? To stop yelling at other drivers? Stop shopping when frustrated?  Or making yourself genuinely happy?

In the process of cleaning out aka Forced Spring Cleaning, 10 year old boxes were found and organized.  In such boxes a lot of self-help books, guess I was looking for something in the late 90′s? Easy Isometric Workout

Posted on 04. Oct, 2010 in Fitness

Hold It Right There!

You’re going to love this: One way to get a slimmer figure is by simply standing still. It’s a strength-training style called isometrics, and it’s a great way to sculpt and tone your body.

Here’s how it works: Instead of lifting and lowering your body or a weight, you hold yourself in a fixed spot.  It creates definition while strengthens the smaller muscles and muscle fibers that have to work harder to keep you stabilized.

Do this total-body workout three days a week. Starting with the first exercise, hold the position for 60 seconds, rest for 30 seconds, and then repeat the exercise three to five more times.
