Heroines that Inspire

Posted on 18. May, 2011 in Uncategorized, You Go Girl

We all have idols and heroes.  There is Condoleezza Rice, Jillian Michaels, Jackie Warner, Kelly Ripa and Justice Ginsberg.  But who do you have “locally” or in your group of peers that really stand out and make you think, I have my own heroine right here.

We have a RockIt Mom, let’s call her “Tinks”. “Tinks” works more than full-time, is married and has 3 young children under the age of 6.  She works so hard at her job, her marriage and  being a mom that is rarely any Tinks time.  Her weekends are packed with sports, dance, swim, birthday parties, helping friends, Daisy leader, fundraising for her favorite charity, grocery shopping, cleaners, and and and… (more…)

Soul Surfer – Bethany Hamiliton

Posted on 27. Mar, 2011 in You Go Girl

Recently, I found a book “Ask Bethany. FAQs: Surfing, Faith & Friends” by Bethany Hamilton with Doris Rikkers.

You may be saying, “Who is Bethany Hamilton, sounds familiar?”  Bethany is the strong, confident and amazing young woman who was attacked by a tiger shark who took her left arm, while she was out surfing in her home of Kauai when she was 13 years old. The story alone shows how strong, focused and powerful she really is.

If you have a young daughter, this is a fabulous book to read TOGETHER.  My 8 years old, who loves to surf, swim and anything water, is amazed at how strong she is and how she is so knowledgeable about so much at a young age. There is a chapter about boys, dating, kissing and all the emotions that go with that.  Bethany has a great response to why she doesn’t have a boyfriend, “A boyfriend is a dangerous thing and could change the course of your life overnight.”  This is from a 16 years old girl.  She needs to mentor those girls on Teen Mom!  Her analogy why you don’t kiss or have a physical relationship with a boy is so on point! I won’t spoil it for you, so you can read the whole chapter.

Bethany is truly a positive and brillant role model for young ladies.  You Go Girl!

More RockIt Vendors

Here are some more vendors that are highly recommended, just mention Dana or RockIt Mom:

Carlsbad Stand Up Paddle Board Club, be sure to talk to Amy.

The Carlsbad Sup Club is located in North San Diego County. From Hwy 5 exit Tamarack east right at Adams st. 1.1 miles on Adams You can see our sign on Adams st. It is a tight turn and then down the hill. We are not next to the freeway. We are not California Water Sports. If you see JET SKI’s out front you are not at the Carlsbad SUP Club. 4509 Adams St., Carlsbad, Ca 92008.  *Hint: CSUC is so close to Hensley’s Flying Elephant, if you make it a date, you can head over there for some dinner and drinks and maybe a cool band.

Facelogic Spa in Encinitas. If you want a facial, this IS the place. It is relaxing, the employees are highly educated on all skin types, the treatments are amazing and they have anti-gravity chairs! Sara is brilliant if you have any allergies or tough skin problems.  Their prices are very reasonable and as a club member it is great savings.

Birthday Party for 5-10 year olds

Posted on 30. Jan, 2011 in Friends

Tired of Chuck E. Cheese, bowling, Build-A-Bear and Princess parties? Here is a new idea, Cooking Classes and/or Cooking themed parties.  I was referred to this site by a friend, I have not personally used this company, but they look like they have a great idea. It is painful to try to get 8-9 yrs. olds to read a complete recipe and understand 3/4 of a teaspoon is very different than a 3/4 cup.  Give it a try and let us know your thoughts.

My Cool Kid Cooks.

They have group or private and numerous locations or at your home.

Look no more, here is your answer:  Snows Pony Rides & Farm Animals.  They do birthday parties, festivals, carnivals, grand openings, family reunions, church functions, company picnics and fundraisers.

The employees are very professional, kind and courteous to the kids. So round’em up for your next event.
